The Department of Political Science was introduced in 1985, in the year of the established of the college. The Department offers B.A. Regular and honours Courses following the UG-CBCS (Under Graduate-Choice Based Credit System) under Gauhati University. The students are admitted on the basis of marks obtained in the HS (10+2) standard examinations conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBCS) or any other equivalent examinations. In Coming years, the Department is enthusiastic to open M.A. Course.
